PRESS RELEASE:
The Hoff eclipses Simon Cowell
to be named top TV smoothie
… And now he’s slick enough to lick!
Knightrider and Baywatch heart throb David Hasselhoff has been turned into an ice lolly by Del Monte Smoothies after being named the Smoothest TV star of 2011, according to new research released today.
Over 2,000 women from across the country were asked to rate a list of smooth talking male TV celebrities as well as choosing what qualities made men the ultimate smoothies including physical and personal attributes. The Hoff, 58, beat fellow charmers from the world of television including silver foxes, Richard Madeley (eight per cent) and Phillip Schofield (14 per cent) to be crowned the winner with over a fifth (21 per cent) of the votes.
The Hoff, best known as tasty lifeguard Mitch Buchannon in Baywatch and more recently for his place on Britain’s Got Talent’s judging panel, can still bring a twinkle to the nation’s eye with smooth one-liners onscreen and off. He beat fellow Britain’s Got Talent judges Simon Cowell (ten per cent) and Michael Mcintyre who appeared eleventh in the list (five per cent).
Lagging behind The Hoff in second place with 18 per percent of the votes is reality TV king Dermot O’Leary followed by E4 hunk, Steve Jones (14 per cent).
Over three quarters (77 per cent) of women said the most important personal attribute for man to be a smoothie is charm and over half of the women said confidence is the key ingredient – only five per cent rated common sense as a smoothie trait. Physically, women are drawn to tall men (40 per cent) with sparkly eyes (67 per cent) and good teeth (58 per cent).
The research was commissioned by Fredericks, the UK’s largest independent ice cream manufacturer who has produced a limited run of David Hasselhoff replica Del Monte Smoothie lollies, created by a team of artists who have worked tirelessly to recreate The Hoff’’s iconic Baywatch pose.
The Top 10 Smoothest TV stars include:
David Hasselhoff – ( 21 per cent)
Dermot O’Leary – ( 18 per cent)
Steve Jones – (13.95 per cent)
Vernon Kay – (13.85 per cent)
Phillip Schofield – (13.80 per cent)
Simon Cowell – (10 per cent)
Richard Madeley – (8 per cent)
Matt Baker – (7 per cent)
Richard Hammond – (6.35 per cent)
David Walliams – (6 per cent)
The Hoff Smoothie lollies were commissioned to celebrate the start of summer for Del Monte Smoothies, a refreshing blend of raspberries that are part of the Del Monte range of guilt-free iced refreshments which contain the finest fruits and juices. The smoothies come in at under 100 calories each and are a tasty way to enjoy an ice cool treat whilst looking after your waistline. The special Hoff Smoothie lollies are being distributed during the third National Ice Cream Week (30th May – 5th June 2011) – a week of ice cream-related shenanigans to celebrate the nation’s favourite summer food.
